Urmila Edith Best
Urmila Edith Best has circled the globe over 20 times, helping thousands of people, in thousands of cities and towns on six continents, how to spiritualize their lives and see Krishna everywhere. She has been a practitioner of bhakti-yoga since 1973, when she became a disciple of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Her deep interest has always been how to have a joyful awareness of the Divine always, at every moment, and in every circumstance.
With that goal in mind, she was a teacher for 27 years, and a school principal for 19 years. She has a masters and doctorate in education from UNC-Chapel Hill. Her publications include Essence Seekers and The Great Mantra for Mystic Meditation. She is also the chair person for Sashtric Advisory Council (SAC) to the GBC. She and her husband have been in the renounced order of vanaprastha since 1996. They have 3 children, 13 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. When she’s not traveling, Urmila stays at New Goloka in North Carolina, or in Govardhana, UP, India.
